I have selected to record the ambisonic of the Hong Kong International Airport for my project.

Status
As known as one of the 4 most important financial sector of Hong Kong, in 2018, Hong Kong Tourism in GDP was 4.5%, also creates 260 billion profit in inbound tourism expenditure in 2019. Apart from the tourism, the HK International Airport itself stands an irreplaceable value in Hong Kong. It won more than 20 best airport awards including the multiples World Best Airport Awards. Meanwhile, the architecture of it is also significant, which won the Top 10 Construction Achievements of the 20th Century.

Pandemic Condition
From 2020, the pandemic condition caused by the COVID-19 has made a huge impact for the Hong Kong tourism industry. According to the Hong Kong International Airport, the passenger throughput in 2019 was 71.5 million, while in 2021 was 1.35 million, the drop was exaggerate that the passenger throughput in 2019 is 50 times more than the statistic in 2021. The environment of the airport is remarkably quiet and extraordinary in this few years.

Historical Value
According to the Hong Kong International Airport Master Plan 2020, 2025, and 2030 released in 2001, 2005, and 2011 respectively. The Airport Authority had predicted that the supply of the airport runway will not meet the demand of the transportation needs. The construction of the 3rd runway has begun since 2016, and was predicted to be finish in 2024. Since 1925 the use of Kai Tak Airport, till 1998 the opening of the Chek Lap Kok Airport, the formation of the Hong Kong Airport has been changing from time to time according to the needs and the development guideline of Hong Kong.

Special Value
Immigrant is a hot topic in Hong Kong recently. In 2019, the number of people moving out Hong Kong is 23k, while in 2022, there is rapid increase, recording that is 113k people moving out. For the people who is leaving Hong Kong, the Hong Kong International Airport might be the final space they spend their them in Hong Kong, their home town that they might have spent half of their life in. It is expected there are sound of people greeting and saying goodbye to each toher.

Owing to the facts mentioned above, I wish to construct my project in the Hong Kong International Airport. As it is an important and irreplaceable place for Hong Kong people. The architect of it might create unique and interesting ambisonic audio. It is also under a very special, unnormal condition and might be changed after a several years according to the pandemic situation or the future construction planning.

Lastly, I wish the ambisonic and visual elements being brought out in this project could be a memorable gift for those who are leaving Hong Kong, is able to make you think of the this place, the space, time, and memory you have had here.
